In the square above, 12w = 3x = 4y. What fractional part of the square is shaded?

A) 2/3

B) 14/25

C) 5/9

D) 11/25

E) 3/7

x = 4w
y = 3w

Areas of all the triangles = 2w2 + 2w2 + w2 + 6w2 = 11w2

Area of the Square = (5w)2 = 25w2

so,Area of shaded region is Total square region - total area of the triangles = 25w2 - 11w2 = 14w2

Area of the shaded = 14w2

so,ration of shaded / square region = 14w2 / 25w2 = 14/25

so my ans is B)14/25
